If you decide to attend one of the Empowering Voices Online workshops, this is what you can expect.
The workshop
Bring your own laptop, if you can, and we will provide a comfortable training room with Wi-Fi and refreshments. There will be computers available for those without laptops. You will find yourself in a small group of like-minded people with two trainers present.
Coaching
During the session you will also meet our online coach. Although invisible, the coach is not virtual, but a real person. Your contact with him will be entirely online, and he will continue to give you support, encouragement and ideas after the workshop.
Within a very short time you will have written your first post, and this can be on any subject you like.
Setting up a website
Before you can go online and publish your thoughts to the world, you will have to work through a number of technical issues. You will set up a website using WordPress, choose a title for it and think about possible domain names.
Once you have voiced your opinions online you will be given some helpful feedback.
Going further
You will probably have questions about designing the site, uploading photos and linking to news articles and other sites. These will be covered, along with how to attract readers and how to handle comments.
There will also be time to explore a wide range of social networking sites that you could use from Twitter to Facebook and YouTube.
What happens next?
Before the end of the workshop you will be introduced to the EVO web-based coaching system where you will be able to get advice and chat about any problems you have. You will be able to use this at any time during the weeks following the workshop.
